In an era of explosive technological changes, the virus from wuhan has not only accelerated the speed of change, but has also altered our lives in profound ways. Successful entrepreneur and critically acclaimed author Rajiv Bahl discusses ways in which governments and societies can prepare for these changes so that livelihoods may be saved and anarchy prevented. He examines eight areas, where current technological advances will have a far-reaching impact on different countries, especially India. The positives will be an abundance of cheaper products of improved quality; a cleaner environment with fossil fuels being Phased out; and decreased land requirement for Agriculture. The downside will be a precipitous drop in jobs and incomes. Can the downside be mitigated? This book looks at ways of creating over a hundred million jobs in India alone, initially in the service sector. It proposes a universal supplementary Scheme that will require some financial outlay, but demonstrates that the cost of the Scheme is eminently affordable for the exchequer the Scheme will have to be aided by improving the ease of doing business in our villages and small towns and ensuring that contractual enforcement is speed up and streamlined. The only caveat is: we need to act now.
