Is there something like an ideal life partner? Kantabai was a wife, daughterinlaw and mother. It was a tough life—a busy and ambitious husband preoccupied by his growing business, a large family and small living quarters. In She & Me, one of India’s most successful entrepreneurs, Bhavarlal H. Jain, reminiscences about his wife, Kantabai and their long life together. The book was originally published in Marathi as Ti ani Mi, which went on to become a bestseller. But She & Me is much more than a portrait of a successful marriage. It traces Bhavarlal's journey from a smalltime kerosene oil trader to the head of one of India's largest business conglomerates. It is also a story of the then and the now, of the times when large joint families were the norm, and when family values, traditional and cultural principles were still respected and followed. Above all, it is a tribute to a remarkable lady, whose deep inner strength and benevolence moulded not only a family, but also helped to build a large business empire.
