When C.K. Nayudu made his way on to Lord’s to lead India in its first-ever test match in 1932, little did he know that seventy-five years later, the nation would find a new pitch and a new obsession, called the Indian Premier League (IPL). What followed was a pure, unadulterated cricket carnival, which combined the spirit of the game with explosive entertainment and a host of Bollywood stars thrown in for good measure. So, if you think Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli are the grandest giants that have walked across the 22 yards, brandishing the willow, here is a quiz book that promises more googlies than the ones you may ever face on the field. Trivia junkies will be stumped when they find out the name of the only English player to be involved in the first season, or discover the world’s first ‘green’ stadium that took cover under solar panels. The nerd in you will be completely bowled when you know why an umpire was given ‘out’ from an IPL season, or the inspiration behind Hoog Lee. Play on!
